We offer a range of complementary services, including preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney and the winding up of estates.
Wills and Power of Attorneys
All clients should have and regularly update a Will. This is especially important when there is a change in your circumstances. We prepare Wills and advise on the rights of spouses and children as well as helping you to decide if a guardian should be appointed for your children.
More complex cases involving tax planning are referred to our trusted experts with whom we have a long association to ensure you receive the right advice.
It is never too early to make a Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney so that your affairs are dealt with should you ever become incapacitated or be unable to properly manage your affairs.
Executries
Dealing with the estate of a loved one can be a daunting prospect. Patience and Buchan are able to undertake the administration of estates including gathering information of the estate at the date of death, making application for Confirmation, accounting for inheritance tax (where appropriate) ingathering and distributing the estate to beneficiaries.
Private Agreements
Clients can plan for the future and one way to minimise future disputes is by making an agreement about what will happen if a relationship breaks down.
We can prepare both pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and agreements when gifting to an adult child to ring fence that gift in the event their relationship breaks down.
Contact us for advice before disposing of an asset (whether transferring or selling) you owned before marriage or if you are contemplating acquiring an asset with your premarital funds. We can help you to understand what consequences there may be if your marriage subsequently breaks down.
